It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
